This info session is virtual and will cover Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) safety standards, grid-reliability benefits, and how local residents can learn more, ask questions, and support the project.
This invitation is offered to our members who reside in or around League City, Texas.
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are a quiet workhorse in the adoption of renewable energy as an alternative to hydrocarbons. Solar energy is produced by day, and BESS is needed to capture that energy and then provide grid resiliency by night.
BESS is little-known and thus easily misunderstood. HREG is happy to partner with Greenlight America on the Say Yes to BESS campaign to raise public awareness of the importance of batteries to grid resilience.

A newly proposed BESS project in League City would be a small 10 MW facility on about one acre, designed as a distributed energy resource to support local grid stability. League City residents are invited to join the Info Session on Sept. 3 and consider attending a city council meeting to support this project.
The virtual info session on Thursday, Sept. 3 will be an opportunity to:
- Learn more about the proposed project,
- Understand the local and state safety standards and requirements that now apply to BESS projects,
- Learn how the local fire department will be prepared and trained to respond,
- Learn more about how battery storage can support local grid reliability, and
- Get your questions answered.
