Houston is a large, vibrant city where many community events take place simultaneously. In addition to producing our own events, like the annual Solar Tour, we regularly get invited to participate in events produced by other sustainably-minded organizations. We carefully select those which align with our mission and which targets specific communities per our objectives.
As in past years, we participated again in Air Alliance’s Earth Day Houston Festival at Discovery Green as well as the Earth Day event at the Nature Discovery Center. To support IKEA with its massive solar energy system installation this year, we participated in their in-store event. Check out our photos.
Members are always welcomed to represent HREG as these events; it is fun and another networking opportunity. Also, we are always open to new ideas for connecting with folks and therefore encourage anyone to submit event details here for possible HREG participation. For those events requiring a monetary investment, please be advised to submit those by November preceding the year of the event.
Also, since the Houston metropolitan area actually encompasses a large zone which stretches from Galveston Bay to The Woodlands, we are introducing satellite solar tour events. The intention is to equally support and highlight solar energy system installations in the surrounding communities on a rotational basis but in the spring. For the spring season, we are introducing the Renewable Energy Satellite Tour to highlight your community next!
Finally, as the other Special Interest Group (SIG) committees continue to organize, we will soon see their events come to life!
